Description

Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) – Jaipur Foot, headquartered in Jaipur, India, is the world’s largest nonprofit rehabilitation organization, founded in 1975. It has provided over 2 million free prosthetic limbs, calipers, wheelchairs, and mobility aids through its 23 branches and over 80 outreach camps both in India and abroad .

BMVSS developed the iconic Jaipur Foot, a low-cost, versatile prosthetic legal from 1968 that enables users to walk, run, squat, climb, and drive, even in barefoot environments using only about $45 worth of materials. Their innovation extended into the Stanford-Jaipur Knee named one of TIME’s “50 Best Inventions” in 2009 which mimics natural gait with a polycentric four-bar design. Today BMVSS continues its mission to restore mobility and dignity offering all devices and services free of cost, conducting international camps, engaging in R&D with institutions like Stanford, MIT, ISRO, and IITs, and achieving global impact across 27 countries.
